Online Accounting Company Bullet has some great news. We just signed our first lease for office space yesterday at The Factory, the current home of StartupBootCamp. We’ve had a bit of a long history with StartupBootCamp. About a 2 years ago, I was put in touch with Bill Liao, who’d setup base in a beautiful part of coastal Cork.
I was fortunate to get to spend the day down there, working on a product called SplitMyBill that I had been running for a number of years as a side line, and had hoped to push it into a payments platform with a very talented developer and friend David Lowry. Bill was kind enough to give me some time.
That project never took off, but via this I got introduced to a newly landed Eoghan Jennings. We meetup in town and spent a long night at the Stags Head talking technology, politics, religion and banks been places dreamers go to die. Since then, Eoghan’s become a friend and from that I got invited to mentor at StartupBootCamp when it opened its doors this year. They just recently had a great success at the demo day, and I personally was super proud of the work people, startups, and support had done to get this off the ground. It reminded me a lot of the Disney movie ‘UP’: this broken down warehouse, building dreams surrounded by these high-rise giants of tech killing dreams.
When Bullet launched at Dublin Beta last month, we started looking for space. Being bootstrapped and only interested in attracting the top talent we knew we had to be based somewhere special; somewhere who’s soul was socked in ideas, self starters, people that don’t fit and quirky thinkers. We bumped into Tom who runs everything at The Factory playing Bass with the band at Dub Starts (I think you’re seeing the hub now) and next morning we meetup and closed a deal.
We’re really excited about this, it’s Bullet’s first HQ and couldn’t be a more apt place to be. Tom and Eoghan are really looking to make The Factory a home base for startups and startup events. The Factory and their approach will insure that edge is always kept, and the suits are kept out.
